When Sara and Sue-Joe came to me for help planning their Los Angeles wedding reception (they had a lovely destination wedding in her home country of Guatemala with their closest family and friends), I was immediately inspired! This fun couple loves seeing the world together and so, naturally, I felt a travel themed reception was in order. The invitations and menus were letterpressed on beautiful thick linen card stock featuring a compass design (also representing finding their way to each other) which we incorporated in the custom designed "boarding passes" to indicate what city named table the guests were to go to. There were photos of the couple at each major world city they've visited in beautiful antique gold frames that were used as the table name signs. One of my favorite elements was the vintage map I designed and framed (Sara + Sue-Joe now have it hanging in their home) which shows all the places they've traveled to on their life's journey. Another special touch included hand-painted take home boxes from Guatemala and sweets from Guatemala and Korea to celebrate their heritage. Of course, the white rose and hydrangea centerpieces with a delicate butterfly preparing for flight suited the theme and were jaw-droppingly gorgeous! The clean, ivory and gold palette they chose was perfect for their elegant venue and the couple's sophisticated style keeping the focus on celebrating their marriage and future together. Sara + Sue-Joe knew how to keep a good party going with exotic cocktail music by a Guatemalan marimba band and an eclectic blend of dance music during the reception. What an amazing and Eventful celebration!
